Introduction

Vitamin A is consumed rapidly when measles virus is present. We speculate that Vitamin A very easily incorporates itself into virus cells to prevent growth and reproduction of them. It has been shown that in the presence of active measles virus, a 2-day mega-dosing of 400,000 IU of Vitamin A will create an extremely mild, short-lived case in those who have contracted the disease.[1]

Vitamin A plays an important role in fighting viral infections like measles; in fact, the severity of measles has been shown to correlate with the level of vitamin A, and supplements of vitamin A have been shown to greatly reduce deaths due to measles infections.[2]

Nightblindness

According to Mary Megson, M.D., a DAN! doctor in Virigina, a review of 60 children with autism revealed that 56 (93%) of the children had at least one parent who suffered from nightblindness. Dr. Megson speculates that this is due to a lack of Vitamin A or thyroid disorders.[2]

A DAN! Doctor's Recommendations

Weight Daily Dosage Frequency Duration Total 2 Day Dosage
Less than 35 lbs 200,000 IU 3 daily (67,000 IU each / 13 drops) 2 days 400,000 IU
Over 35 lbs 400,000 IU 3 daily (133,000 IU each / 27 drops) 2 days 800,000 IU
Alternative 250,00O - 300,000 IU (Middle-ground) 3 daily 2 days 500,000 IU- 600,000 IU

Mycellized Vitamin A

Mycellization (Micellization) is a micro-molecule delivery process that produces small droplets called micelles that are easily absorbed and assimilated into the bloodstream. Vitamin A supports immune function, is important for vision health, and plays a role in the development and maintenance of cartilage and epithelial tissue, such as tissue that lines the digestive tract.

Observations

Initial Treatment

Hi guys....I wanted to share my experience regarding Vitamin A Protocol and maintenance. The first time we did vitamin A protocol was a year ago when we figured out that the MMR had given Ian sub-clinical measles. After the protocol, we saw amazing results and stimming almost completely disappeared.[3]

Maintenance

This past summer, the stimming returned and he started displaying behaviors I hadn't seen in a year...including abnormal gate. We realized that measles and ruboella were back because we didn't maintain his vitamin A levels. Soooo....we did the protocol again, this time with a maintenance dose of 12,500 IU per day. This was 4 - 6 weeks ago.[3]

Toxicity?

The past couple weeks, Ian has been increasingly hyperactive and is having huge problems with incontenance and refusing to pee on the potty. I re-read the document by Dr. Chapman and have found that hyperactivity is a sign of vitamin A toxicity. I wouldn't have figured that one out in a million years if I hadn't been asked a question last night by another listmate regarding the high dose protocol.[3][1]

As of now, we are discontinuing the maintenance doses of vitamin A until his behavior calms down. And I'm not sure what dose to maintain after that. I'm wondering if anyone else has noticed any problems with behavior while maintaining a high dose of vitamin A following the high dose protocol.--karen elmquist--[3]
