Introduction
May this story help to bring many of our growing population of Autistic kids back to good health, physically, mentally, and neurologically.[2][3]
Meeting Milestones
Our son was not born autistic! He was developmentally meeting all his mile stones on time or early (accept crawling, he was talking at 10 months old and putting words together at 12 months old).
Parents As Teachers Program (Advanced Scores)
He became very ill after his 6 month shots, diagnosied as RSV which he had for 8 month which later was changed to asthma. (an ear infection per month followed as well) 2 weeks prior to our sons first brithday we had him tested by the state with a program called Parents As Teachers to find out where he was developmentally and tested out at 18 months of age (6 months advanced)
Post MMR Regression
Levi recieved his MMR and Convax shots at 12 months of age and changed THAT day. Within 9 hours he developed a seizure disorder, and continued to deteriorate.
Levi became so sick and so self abusive that we were (literally) in the hospital or doctor's office 3 times a week because of the head banging on the walls, floor and doors. Levi even knocked himself out once!

Our Hopes and Dreams Are Shattered!
They told us that he was going to give himself brain damage or shaken baby syndrom if this continued and that we needed to pad his walls and put a helmet on him or institutionalize him.....this was our 1st born with all our dreams wrapped up in him....and all he would be, that just died on that day....
Parents As Teachers Program (Reevaluation)
I called the same organization (that previously evaluated Levi) 2 weeks after the shots to have this "different" child re-evaluated.
Levi tested at a 2-4 month old age level
- Meaning we had lost 14-16 months development with two vaccinations.
Vaccine Damage
We later learned that Levi actually contracted the measels from his vaccination, and tetnus from his 6 month shots. He was also mercury toxic (poisoned by the vaccines). This was the precursor to an immune system "crash" (or autoimmune disorder).
To make matters worse, four kids died (with in 48 hours) from the same batch of vaccines that Levi received. Another child in the same town had to have his leg amputated from the knee down after receiving the MMR vaccination.
Yet neither vaccine was recalled.

Finding the Path to Recovery
Occupational Therapist
An insightful Occupational Therapist (OT) came to evaluate Levi for services. She described him to a "T" before ever seeing or meeting Levi.

The OT wasn't allowed to diagnose Levi, but kindly offered me a loan of her book, Biological Treatments of Autism and PDD by Dr. William Shaw.
Biomedical Insight
I saw my son all over this book. There is a story by this mom who started a biomedical protocol called DAN!, or Defeat Autism Now!, toward the end of Dr. Shaw's book. The treatments brought about great improvements for her child. [4][5]
Dietary Intervention (One Week)
We started Levi the very next day.... with 24 hours of just diet changes (gluten free. casein free) our sons eye contact came back, and he was more there, and all of his self-abusive behavior stopped as well. We were impressed!
We also noticed Levi was no longer zoning-out. We learned that these "absent seizures", were being triggered by the gluten. When the gluten was removed, so were the seizures [6]
Open to New Foods
Levi "held out"; he wouldn't eat for 4 days!. After four days, he would eat anything we put infront of him -- the sensory issues were gone. Levi was now eating veggies, fruits, meats, etc.
Supplements
Next, we decided to try something else mentioned in the book called DMG (a food suppliment, which helps to boost the immune system. DMG is known to trigger lang in 50% of ASD kids).
Within 8 hours we had 8 words.....which we were in total disbelief, this is the same kid that LOST his lang and therpay hadn't brought about results.
- That day, Levi's Speech Therapist asked us what we had changed (she was floored, too!)
- The Speech Therapist also noted that his attention went from 2 min to 45 min in just one day!
We experimented with removing the DMG. The language was again lost.
Two Weeks Later
We tried the DMG again 2 weeks later. Levi spoke in a full sentence, "LOVE YA MAMA", after just 4 hours after the first dose.

I had not heard Levi say "Mama" in over a year. I had had forgotten what it sounded like.

Health Struggles
Levi has lost his diagnosis, only to have a medical problem send him flying back onto the "spectrum":
- GI scope set him back a whole year in developement
- Next, scarlet fever.[7]
Experts are looking at gene SNPS to explain this as well.[8]

Summary
This story has lead to book chapter offers, speaking engadgments, etc, for our family. But, the best, and indeed, really important thing, is, this has allowed us to help other families on their journey to getting their child back (health wise and mind wise).
I feel our kids are trapped in their bodies, which don't work right, as we heal them from the inside the mind just follows....
I hope that Levi's story helps many...
